The Rookery, Waterbeach
Project: The Rookery, Waterbeach
Client: Private
Architect: The Whitworth Co - Partnership
Project Outline:
This scheme involves the complete refurbishment, restoration and extension of a very large Victorian property. Much of the property has remained untouched for a long period of time and as such needs general maintenance and repair. Various structural alterations are proposed within the existing building, along with the construction of a modern kitchen extension with a large expanse of folding glazing to access the garden and an ambitious opening between the new and existing areas. Superstructures were appointed to undertake an initial structural survey of the building which uncovered a number of areas requiring attention. We have undertaken the specification of strengthening and repairs in conjunction with the structural design of the extension and alterations. Work is currently continuing at pace on site with the majority of structural works now complete.

Rose Cottage
Project: Garden Room Extension, Shotley
Architects: Whitworth Co- Partnership
Contractor: Charles Clarke and Son Ltd.
Project Outline:
This tricky little project involved the construction of a garden room extension to the rear of an existing timber framed farmhouse. The aspiration to have flush access to the garden resulted in the floor level of the garden room having to be substantially lower than that of the existing building. A foundation solution was required that ensured integrity of the fragile farmhouse structure with its very limited foundations both in the final and temporary states.
